The Byron Bay Shire is one of the most popular destinations in Australia, for very good reason - its distinctive natural beauty, outstanding amenities, vibrant creative community, progressive ideals, and leadership in the health & wellness space.

Destination Byron is a group of passionate local volunteers, striving to create a funded Destination Management Organisation for the Byron Shire through advocacy and collaboration. The group was formed to fill a gap in the visitor economy normally occupied by a council-funded ‘Local Tourism Organisation’.

Our goal is to ensure that the local visitor economy is mutually beneficial for visitors, residents, the local economy, culture and environment. We envisage the Byron Shire becoming a model of regenerative tourism in which every visitor leaves Byron feeling rejuvenated having played a part in regenerating the Shire’s creativity, natural environment and community.

We believe that a well-managed visitor economy can be a powerfully positive force; and that a formal Destination Management Organisation can help protect Byron’s unique character, natural assets and quality of life for locals while creating life-changing experiences for visitors.
