Destination Byron has been successful in obtaining a grant of $200k from the NSW 24-Hour Economy Commissioner which aims to enhance regional economies from day into night via business collaboration. Byron is a hotbed of creativity. Our vision is to enhance Byron’s night-time vibrancy by foraging links between local businesses & local talent in the region’s creative community across 5 pillars - Arts & Culture, Health.& Wellbeing, Sustainability, Food & Beverage, and Entrepreneurship. Culminating in a multi-week festival that is backed by a marketing, communications and PR campaign to draw local residents and visitors into Byron’s town centre and surrounding villages to celebrate what makes Byron unique.

Marketing, Communications & Public Relations Team

Destination Byron is seeking an experienced Marketing, Communications & Public Relations Team to deliver the inaugural Byron Fest festival in Winter 2027.

EOI Closing Date: 10 August 2026 (extended to 5pm Friday 14th August 2026)

Proposal Closing Date: 31 August 2026

Contract Period: September 2026 – July 2027

Contract Value: Up to $90,000  

Destination Byron invites suitably qualified marketing, communications and public relations agencies to submit a proposal to develop and deliver the inaugural marketing campaign for Byron Fest 2027. The appointed team will work alongside Destination Byron, the Festival Producer/Local Event Coordinator, participating businesses, local government and other project partners to develop Byron Fest's inaugural brand and deliver an integrated marketing and communications campaign.

The objectives of this appointment are to:

  • Develop a distinctive Byron Fest brand that can be used for future festivals

  • Position Byron Fest as Australia's leading regional winter lifestyle festival

  • Increase awareness of Byron Fest across local, regional and interstate audiences

  • Encourage overnight visitation during winter

  • Increase participation by local businesses

  • Generate positive earned media nationally and regionally

  • Build Byron Fest's owned marketing assets for future campaigns

  • Deliver a scalable marketing framework that can grow as sponsorship and funding increase

Local Event Coordinator/Festival Producer

Destination Byron is seeking an experienced Local Event Coordinator/Festival Producer to deliver the inaugural Byron Fest festival in Winter 2027.

📍 Based in the Northern Rivers
📅 November 2026 – July 2027 (9 months)
💰 Project Fee: $50,000

The successful applicant will work closely with Destination Byron, local businesses, Council, community organisations and an appointed marketing agency to coordinate all aspects of festival delivery.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring someone who can:

• Build strong relationships across the community
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders and venues
• Manage complex projects and timelines
• Help businesses develop exciting new activations
• Coordinate communications and festival operations
• Create systems that establish Byron Fest as an annual event
